Specialist-led access

Every prescription begins with an individual clinical assessment.

Who may be eligible

Assessment is individual.

There is no single list that guarantees access. A specialist considers your diagnosis, symptom history, previous treatments, current medicines and personal risk factors.

A diagnosed condition

Your clinic will normally request medical records confirming your diagnosis and treatment history.

Treatments already tried

Specialists usually consider CBMPs after established options have not helped enough or were unsuitable.

Specialist review

Clinical evidence, potential benefits, interactions and risks are considered for your circumstances.

Ongoing monitoring

If prescribed, regular reviews help the clinician assess safety, response and continued suitability.

Conditions and symptoms

Conditions clinics may assess.

These examples are not an approved-condition list. Evidence and prescribing guidance differ by condition, and only a specialist can decide whether treatment is appropriate.

01

Pain conditions

  • Chronic pain
  • Neuropathic pain
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Arthritis
  • Migraine

02

Neurological conditions

  • MS spasticity
  • Refractory epilepsy
  • Parkinson’s symptoms
  • Tourette syndrome

03

Mental health

  • Anxiety
  • PTSD
  • Depression
  • Insomnia

04

Other specialist areas

  • Chemo nausea
  • Inflammatory bowel symptoms
  • Endometriosis pain
  • Palliative symptoms

Important: inclusion above does not mean medical cannabis is proven, suitable or available for every person with that condition. NHS access remains very limited; most UK assessments currently take place through private specialist clinics.

The prescription pathway

  1. 01

    Check your history

You will usually need a diagnosed condition and evidence that established treatments have been tried without adequate benefit or were unsuitable.

  2. 02

    Choose a specialist clinic

Contact an independent clinic that assesses your condition. Ask about consultation, prescription and dispensing costs before booking.

  3. 03

    Share your medical records

The clinic reviews your diagnosis, current medicines, treatment history, risks and relevant records from your GP or specialist team.

  4. 04

    Clinical assessment

A doctor on the GMC Specialist Register decides whether a cannabis based medicinal product may be appropriate. A consultation never guarantees a prescription.

  5. 05

    Prescription and follow-up

If prescribed, medicine is dispensed by a registered pharmacy. Your specialist monitors response, side effects and ongoing suitability.

Controlled medicine

Clinical decisions come before products.

Cannabis based medicinal products are prescribed only when a qualified specialist considers them appropriate. Product choice, formulation and dose are based on your individual needs and reviewed over time.

Find a clinic

Explore independent UK clinics.

All listed clinics offer online consultations across the UK. Contact them directly to understand eligibility, clinical services and current costs.

Independent providers: Clinics are listed as a patient starting point, not as endorsements. Voleni does not control their eligibility decisions, pricing or services.

Product availability: A clinic listing does not mean it currently prescribes Voleni products. Ask your clinician about suitable CBMP options; clinical decisions remain independent.

Responsible access

Speak to an independent specialist.

Find a clinic

Medical cannabis is a controlled prescription medicine in the UK. Only use products prescribed for you and supplied by a registered pharmacy. Do not stop or change existing medication without speaking to your clinician.
